GANGTOK, July 10: Acclaimed intellectual CK Shrestha today observed that the Gorkha community has failed to compete in the national levels due to lack of proper education policies for the community.
The education policy framed so far is tilted towards the majority communities which cannot be grasped by the Gorkha community in its entirety as a result, the community
gets left behind in competitions, said Shrestha during the second day of the 3-days leadership training workshop organized by Sikkim unit of Bharatiya Gorkha Parisangh (BGP) at Singtam.
Shrestha who is the chief resource in the workshop added that said that such education policy has seriously affected the economics of the Gorkha community.
Addressing the 40 participants who are attending the workshop, Shrestha said that the aspiring leaders of the society should be committed towards their issues. A leader should first properly the issue he is going to take up for the development of the society, he said.
The chief resource person said that the Gorkha leadership have been following a laid back attitude to the issues of the Gorkha community. This has caused setback to the community on several occasions, he opined.
Speaking on the economic aspect of the Gorkha community, Shrestha said that the members of the Gorkha community should adopt professions which are in sync with the geographical conditions and their inherent talents.
A question and answer session was also held where the participants put forward their queries to the chief resource person.
